League Playing Rules

Teams can play with a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 16.

You cannot play with less than 8 players. If a team turns up with less than the 8 players required, they will forfeit the match and 22 points will be awarded to the opposition.

  • The format for all League and Cup/Sheild games are as follows:
  • 1 x 4’s  –  1 leg 801
  • 2 x pairs  –  3 legs 501
  • 8 x singles  –  3 legs 501

All legs to be played  –  1 point awarded for each leg won.

No player may play more than once in singles or pairs.

No player may play more than twice on the night.

Away team to throw first then alternate for the remainder of games.

Bust rule applies to all games.

Games to start (toe to oche) no later than 8:15pm, however you can start earlier if both teams are ready.

You can use a second board if games are running late.

  • Captains to select order of play, put onto paper and shown at the same time.

Players who are running late may play on the night but opposing Captains must be informed, however if they are not present by the time their game is ready to be played that game will be forfeited, and the opposing team will be awarded a 3 – 0 win.

  • Players full names (no nicknames) to be printed on the score sheet (no signatures required) before start of play. Captains to sign score sheet at the end of the match to agree the Score, Extra Players, High Outshots and 180’s.

Please make sure Extra Players, High Outshots and 180’s are recorded on the night as the sheet cannot be altered once it has been sent. 180’s and High Outshots do not count in Cup/Sheild games but do count in Division One friendlies. Score sheets must be posted on the Results WhatsApp straight after the match.

  • Players must have played/attended a minimum of 50% of the League games (Division One friendlies count) to qualify for any competitions, this includes the Knockout Cup and Pam Bidgway finals.
  • In the event of a points draw for the League winners or teams in the relegation position a playoff between the teams involved will take place on finals night.
  • All venues must have a raised oche, and a throw distance as follows:
  • Height  –  5ft  8in to the centre of the board
  • Distance  –  7ft  9¼in to the rear of the oche.
