LEAGUE CONSTITUTION
Name and purpose
The League shall be known as the Aylesbury Vale Darts League (AVDL) and shall organise a League competition between the darts teams of Aylesbury and surrounding areas.
Membership
Membership will be open to all darts teams in the catchment area.
The procedure for applying for membership is as follows:
- An application must be made to the League before or at the AGM.
- The membership fee as defined by the League rules and must be sent with the application.
- The Committee will consider the application.
Applications after the AGM may be accepted at the Committees discretion but must be before the start of the new season.
New teams will start in the lowest division.
League Fees
The League fees payable by each team shall be determined by the League Committee and stated at the AGM.
All fees must be paid before the new season begins.
Fees shall not be repayable.
Committee
The officers of the Committee shall be elected at the Winter League AGM. The Committee will consist of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, League Secretary, Results Secretary. Treasurer and 3/4 Committee Members (no person may hold more than 2 positions at a time).
These positions will be held for 1 year (1 Winter and 1 Summer Season). In the event of a vacancy occurring during the year the Committee shall have the power to co-opt.
The elected Committee shall constitute a quorum, and the Chairperson shall have the casting vote.
The Committee shall have full power to make or waive any rule they deem necessary and provide for any contingency that may arise to ensure the smooth running of the League.
General Meetings
An Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall be held soon after the end of the season.
Extraordinary General Meetings (EGM) may also be called at any time by the Committee or at the request of three or more Teams.
Teams will be notified of the AGM at least 3 weeks prior to the meeting.
Teams will be asked to submit any proposals that are to be discussed at the AGM. These proposals shall be sent to the League Secretary to arrive no later than 2 weeks prior to the AGM.
An Agenda setting out such proposals shall be sent to each Team Captain and Vice as soon as possible after the deadline.
Items not on the agenda may be taken at the discretion of the Chairperson but may not include any proposals for altering the Constitution or Rules.
The League Secretary will be responsible for recording minutes of the AGM.
All members of the Aylesbury Vale Darts League will be invited to the AGM, however, to avoid everyone talking over each other each team will be allowed 1 spokesperson only.
There will be 1 vote per team for anything that needs voting on.
Only Teams who are playing in the upcoming Season will be allowed to attend the AGM and vote on anything.
Rules and Administration
The Rules of the League shall be decided at the AGM.
Administration and interpretation of the Constitution and Rules shall be made by the Committee.
The Committee shall have the power to decide on all matters that are not specifically provided for in the League Rules.
Expulsion from the League
The League Committee shall have the power to expel a Member/Team when, in its opinion, it would not be in the interest of the League for them to remain a member.
An appeal against such a decision may be made to the Committee to ascertain their reasoning for the decision.
League Finances
A Bank Account shall be opened and maintained in the name of Aylesbury Vale Darts League.
The Account shall be overseen by the Chairperson and the Treasurer who will both have access to the account via Debit Card/Cheque Book.
The League Committee shall have the power to authorise the payment of renumeration and expenses to any member of the League and to any other persons for services rendered to the League.
The League shall keep accounting records for recording the facts and nature of all payments going in or out of the Bank Account.
The Aylesbury Vale Darts League is a non-profit organisation. All profits and surpluses will be used to maintain, improve or develop the league.
Amendments to Constitution
The Constitution shall only be changed through agreement by the majority vote at an AGM or EGM
